Symplexis is a non-for-profit organisation based in Athens, Greece that works to promote social cohesion and to protect human rights, serving the modern needs of populations at risk of exclusion. All activities designed and implemented by the organisation are user-centered, having a set of values as cornerstone, like impact sustainability, respect to uniqueness and tailor-made approach, user-driven design and implementation, and results-based orientation. The fields of specialisation include:

  • Facilitation of (re)entering in the labour market
  • Tackling gender-based discrimination
  • Promoting education and lifelong learning
  • Fostering the inclusion of third country nationals

ASSOC is a social services provider with 30 years of experience, located in Northern Romania. ASSOC’s mission is to foster the social, educational and profesional integration of vulnerable groups, as well as to improve their life conditions through education and work.

Through the experience of more than 70 major implemented projects, ASSOC has developed a series of educational, professional and social services for vulnerable groups, including: persons with disabilities, people with low professional skills, children from placement centres, Roma communities, elderly people, poor families, migrants and refugees, people in custody, people and families in crisis, and so on.

Bulgaria

Roma-Lom Foundation is a non-profit organisation, registered in Bulgaria in 1996 with the mission to stimulate the process of empowerment of excluded groups and social emancipation of disadvantaged communities.

The Roma-Lom Foundation (RLF) works for integration and social emancipation of disadvantaged communities, regardless of their ethnicity. The emphasis falls on the development of the Roma community as it is living in the most difficult situation and at the same time is with the highest percentage of concentration in the region of North-West Bulgaria. (For instance, the Roma represent nearly 50% of the total population of the city of Lom.)

The long-term goals of RLF are to ensure the access to development for excluded groups and disadvantaged communities by mobilizing the internal potential of the community and attracting partners for joint problem solving, increasing the level and quality of education for children and young people, income generation and improvement of the economic status of disadvantaged groups.

In all areas, the main target group are the young people from marginalized and ethnic communities.

In fulfilling its mission and long-term goals, RLF sees its role as an active agent of change that purposefully works for:

  • Stimulation of initiative citizen groups and local NGOs working for sustainable development of communities by building their capacity and expertise, trainings and provision of methodological support.
  • Resource Center for increasing the expertise of community NGOs and initiative groups working for local development with a special focus on young people, through trainings, exchange internships, mentoring and provision of know-how, facilitating community needs and opportunities research, setting priorities together with the target group.
  • Development and testing of practices and models for solving problems and lobbying for the implementation of successful practices at regional and national level.
  • Stimulation the communication and ethnic-cultural dialogue for mutual understanding, overcoming prejudices and promotion of tolerance as a norm in the relations between different ethnic groups in Bulgaria.
  • Improving the quality and access to social services, by offering new types of services and provision of integrated social services for social inclusion and early childhood development.
  • Promotion of Roma culture, support of Roma ensembles and artists in the field of Roma music, theatre, art. RLF is experienced in research and initiatives to preserve Roma customs, cultural heritage and the Roma language aimed to strengthen the self-esteem of young Roma as bearers of Roma identity and culture.
  • Campaigns for changing public attitudes towards excluded groups by promoting the positive practices of locally based NGOs.
  • Advocacy campaigns for changing policies at the local and national level regarding the development of disadvantaged communities and support for effective participation of community representatives in decision-making.

At the present moment, 20 people are engaged in the implementation of RLF activities, as a paid team.

Association of Roma women “Bolja budućnost” Tuzla

Roma Women Association “Bolja budućnost” as a women non-governmental organization, continuously identifies and warns the society to the problem faced by the Roma people, and through social and economic programmes, human rights programmes, advocacy programmes and political participation provides organised, direct assistance and support to Roma minority, with the aim to improve the quality of their lives and full social integration, with the special focus to the Romani women. Non-for-profit organization established in 2000 and legally registered in 2001, based in City of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The position of Roma women in B&H is difficult because they face a range of problems, from extreme poverty, domestic violence, discrimination, early marriage, insufficient access to health, social protection and education, human trafficking and forced begging.

We attach special importance to preserving the culture, traditions, customs and language of the Roma, as well as the culture of remembrance of the Roma victims of World War II, and every year we go with members of the Women’s Roma Network “Uspjeh” to the Memorial in Donja Gradina, and we also visited the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

We as representatives of the Roma people make efforts to protect the Roma population and our future generations from all negative occurrences in the past, in the present and in the future, in all forms of discrimination, hate speech, segregation, intolerance, violence, genocide, and at the same time we are deeply believe in respect of the human fundamental rights, equality between all genders, creation of favorable climate for respect of the rights, respect of the basic democratic principles of freedom, and the life standard, as well as the elimination of all of the irregularities, in collaboration with the international institutions which are obliged for that. The mission and the obligations are:

Respect of the basic human rights and freedoms, and respect of all of the obligations which come after the signature of all contracts from international character

To retain the peace and the stability in the world

Development to solve the problems from economic, social, cultural and humane aspect regarding the Roma

To strengthen the support for equal rights, bases of the freedom, regardless the color, race, gender, language and religion.

Roma Versitas Albania (RVA) is a youth-led non-profit organization that works to support Roma students in their educational journey and beyond. Since its establishment in 2017, RVA has been committed to breaking down the barriers that Roma youth face in accessing and succeeding in higher education. Through mentorship, academic tutoring, scholarships, and community engagement, the organization creates a safe and empowering space for Roma students to grow, learn, and become changemakers in their communities.

Beyond academic support, RVA actively promotes inclusion, equal opportunities, and the celebration of Roma identity and culture. By building partnerships with universities, public institutions, and civil society, the organization advocates for policies that reflect the real needs and potential of Roma youth. At its core, Roma Versitas Albania believes that education is not only a right but also a powerful tool for social transformation — and through its daily work, it helps Roma students not only stay in school, but thrive.
